Saints of the Month: Dave Lodder. Although Dave is a relatively new comer to the Goodtimers he is very active in the community and the Goodtimers. Most recently the Adopt a Veterans Family for Christmas fund raiser at Eli’s Sports Bar & Grille in Ross. He does the Bikes for Tykes and many other charitable activities.
2015 Family Christmas Party: Kids running and sliding, Santa showing his holiday spirit, and families catching up with each other. Our choir still needs a little work, but the kids barely noticed. Happy New Year everyone.
2015 Holiday Dinner Party: Great turnout! We are good looking group when you clean us up. Thanks to Kenny and Vicki for organizing this year’s dinner. Food was amazing!
2015 Operation Christmas Freedom: Outstanding. We had strong support from the Goodtimers. Along with The Patriot Pinups and Dave Lodders group from Eli’s we raised over $2,400. The Goodtimers were able to present a disabled veteran and his 8 year old daughter with a check for $1,000, boxes of groceries, a bike and numerous toys for his 8 year old daughter. Dave and the Ross group did a similar thing for another family. We were also able to contribute cash and canned goods to a lady at the VFW (Charlotte) whose World War II husband has recently been placed in a home. http://local12.com/news/local/local-veteran-and-daughter-adopted-for-christmas.
2015 Christmas Caroling: Our baritones were there…. Where were the altos?
2016 33rd Ski Trip: Date: January 17th – 20th Where: Seven Springs. 33 = Celtic Crazy. BALANCE DUE! There is snow on the mountain: http://www.7springs.com/ski-and-ride/mountain-cams/. Let’s coordinate rides at the meeting.
2016 MidWinter’s Ball: Date: February 20th Where: Mill Course The theme for this year’s MidWinter’s Ball is Dress your Decade. Travel through time as we begin in the 1950’s and travel through the year 2010 with music, food, drinks. Dress in your era! Event update at the meeting.
2016 DC Memorial Day: Date: May 25th – 29th Where: Washington DC We will be staying at the Hampton Inn Springfield (soon to be Wyngate). Check in on 5/26 and out on 5/29. Ask for a room under the Goodtimers Rolling Thunder group name to get the group rate. Make your reservation under your name using your credit card. We will be leaving Cincinnati on Wed. May 25th, usually around 10:00 a.m. after breakfast. We will be staying in Buckhannon WV on Wed. night and going on to DC on Thursday morning. I’m still working on the hotel in Buckhannon. I’ll let you know ASAP. We will be presenting the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Saturday. Jim is taking care of the reservations on the way home in Frostburg. We will get that info out also as soon as we secure the rooms. There will be at least one chase car. There should be room if anyone wants to ride up in the car.
UPDATE: Because the Hampton Inn is changing over to be a Wyngate we cannot make our reservations in Washington until after January 1. The rooms are confirmed we just have to wait. I’m not sure if the phone number will change. I’ll let you know.
ALSO: We have rooms reserved at the Microtel Inn, Buckhannon, WV for Wed. night, May 25th. The number is 304 460-2525. Ask for rooms reserved for the Goodtimers to get the group rate.
